Memphis, TN - City Proposes Stray Animal Bounty
My concerns would be people deliberately taking/stealing a dog to receive the payout. Plus side is that it is only paid out for live animals, which means they can at least make an effort to locate the owner. Next concern is if their animal control facility could handle the increase in strays that are brought in? And then what do they do with these dogs? Anxiously waiting to see how this plays out!

I would like to only add that it disturbs me that the dogs "rights" (a dog that has attacked two people) in this case takes priority over a human being.

Shelby County IN (Fountaintown) - Pit bull attacks horseback riders

This article was bad enough to read about but good lord look at some of the comments below. THIS is why these idiots abound and we wonder why.
Shelby County couple and their animals were viciously attacked over the weekend by a neighbor's pit bull. A neighbor's pit bull attacked the mule and horse Fowler and her husband were riding Sunday afternoon. Meanwhile, she says, the dog's owner stood by and did nothing. (Surprising? Bueller.... buerller??)
That's when another neighbor got either crazy or was associated with the dog somehow:
"Grabbed it by the collar and threw it into her car and then got in the car with the dog to take it back to the owner," said Fowler. Fowler says until she's sure the pit bull has been put down, she won't be leaving her property to ride her animals again. But the dog's fate is still in question. "It's a 10-day quarantine when it bites a person or another animal," said Keith Barrett with the Shelby County Animal Shelter. "I'm digging for documentation for anything this dog has been in trouble for. So far, I haven't found anything." PUT THAT MUTT TO SLEEP!!
Anyway, the blogs on this article were just too much for me to pass up. A few examples below for your viewing pleasure:
TheLugnut
It just amazes me that dogs have such a nack for picking out just the dumbest victims if not the horse, it would even be the owners. Dogs have a thing for picking out stupidity and carelessness in people thats why it attacked. A dog shouldnt be uthinized for doing what other people think about doing. "And no i am not talking about the horse
DogLuver
If it had been another breed, Yes, it would have been reported, there is not a worldwide media conspiracy to only report pit bull attacks. They just attack so much it appears that way. Why have rules the same for all breeds? When was the last time you heard of a beagle or chihuahua killing a person? But you do hear it everyday for pit bulls and their types. www.pitattacksbystate.blogspot.com Prevent the Deed by Regulating the Breed
Bubba
If this had been a German Sheppard, or Standard Poodle would the article have mentioned the breed of dog or is that reserved for Pit Bulls?
Guest
Yes it would have Bubba - evidently you are too ignorant to realize the fact that people need to restrain their animals and train them properly. It is not the animals fault - it is the owner of the animal who is responsible for their animals actions. Pit bulls are actually very loving dogs, but people train them to be mean - that should quarantine the owner - not the dog
Animal Lover
I big on dumb people training dogs to be aggressive, but it is possible the dog was just spooked to by the big horse... I've taken my miniature dachshund (who weighs 12 lbs) to my grandpa's farm before and it always acts very aggressive towards the horses and donkeys there even though she not an aggressive dog at all.. She just doesn't know what the hell they are and acts aggressively because she's afraid of them.

Lawrence, MA - Pit bull attacks neighbor
His mutt dug dug under the fence and attacked his neighbor, Liris Nunez, while she was out picking green beans from her vegetable garden. Mrs. Nunez was viciously attacked and received injuries to her hand, thigh, and mouth - including breaking three of her teeth. Nunez is thankful that this happened to her and not her grandchildren who play regularly in the back yard - ages 2-11.

The idiot dog owner, Serrano, accuses the victim (EXTREME pit nutter cop-out - by all means, let's not fuck with his penis extension) of throwing rocks at his dog. Does Animal Control have any reports of that? Bueller....Bueller......I must say that I would certainly call AC AND the police if someone was throwing rocks at my dog. Secondly, even IF someone WAS throwing rocks at my dog - guess what?? They are normal and wouldn't' attack you!! But I digress.... Animal Control has been to this house NUMEROUS TIMES for complaints about this mutt. In fact, the US Postal Service STOPPED delivering mall altogether because of this dangerous dog.
Neighbors, on the other hand, never complained to the authorities for fear of RETALIATION The victim's family says that all they would like is a simple show of compassion, but instead, they are met with hostility and the dog owner wanting to "fight them".
Here's what the powers that be have to say:
Romero said he's prepared to take drastic steps to allay those fears, which may include condemning the dog to death. "It doesn't happen often," the chief said. "In 10 years, four dogs have been euthanized after we took the dogs and after
the MSPCA determined the dogs could not be rehabilitated. It's rare, but a possibility after an attack on some person or animal. And the owner has a right to a hearing to convince me not to."
Who do YOU believe? The nasty ass dog owners or the victim? I'll put my money with the victim. Best wishes on your recovery Mrs. Nunez.

RIP Asia - you ugly mutt

Dallas, TX
A 63 year old man was mauled by pit bulls while out walking and minding his own business. The two ugly mutts were picked up (pics above). Here is the article text:
DALLAS - Two pit bull dogs attacked and mauled a 63-year-old diabetic man taking a walk through his neighborhood Friday.
It happened just before 6:00 a.m. in Lakewood.
"It was terrible, man," David Cunniff, witness, recalled. "I felt defenseless. There was nothing I could do."
He first heard Dost Aryan's screams for help outside.
"He had bites on his face, his arms, his legs, his arms," Cunniff remembered. "There was blood all over the porch. It was horrific. You can't believe."
Aryan said the dogs charged him as he walked back towards his house.
He did not carry a stick or any weapon - never anticipating such an attack.
"Part of his lip was ripped off," Cunniff added.
Aryan was bitten too many times to count.
Even though he was bandaged, he remained bloody.
"I said 'Man, I'm sorry I couldn't help you sooner,'" Cunniff continued. "And he said 'I'm just thankful to be alive.' He said 'I truly thought I was going to die right there. I thought those dogs were going to maul me to death.'"
Aryan said he is taking multiple prescriptions for the bites.
He said he was bitten on his legs, feet, upper thigh, and from his fingers to his elbows on both arms.
Cunniff said Aryan sought refuge on a nearby front porch using hanging flower pots to fight off the dogs without success.
Aryan told News 8 he will have to find another way to exercise now.
I have a HUGE PROBLEM WITH THE FOLLOWING - people should NOT be AFRAID to walk around their neighborhood!!!!!!!!!!
Experts suggest in addition to carrying a stick, walkers and joggers should use a weapon like "Halt II."
It's a spray irritatant designed to deter dogs.
Experts recommend a spray designed for dogs because some are immune to traditional pepper spray.
WHY are "experts" not helping to CHANGE THE LAW???? Fuck pepper spray and big sticks - Jesus Christ people!! This is insane!!!
Dallas Animal Control seized two pit bulls, a gray male and tan and white female, near the attack Friday morning. Both are quarantined and if neither are claimed in ten days they become city property and will likely be destroyed.
Ummm... anyone else think these mutts should be destroyed given what they did to this poor man? Why on earth are they holding them for 10 days???
YOUR taxpayer dollars at work!

Children and violent criminals should never have access to chainsaws, blowtorches, wood chippers, gasoline and matches, tire irons, ball-peen hammers, Buicks, pit bulls, coping saws, steak knives, firearms or flamethrowers. I think intelligent people can agree with that. Other than such logic, no other restrictions need be placed on any tools in America." - Ted Nugent
LILONGWE, Malawi - Pit Nutter racists to the extreme!

Dean Schalhwal - He has a little dick.
I don't even know how to respond or blog this. These people are obviously racist piece of shit supremacists.
LILONGWE, July 24 (Xinhua) -- The Malawi government and the civil society have said that they strongly condemned the attitude of a Lilongwe-based white couple Dean and Helen van Schalhwal who, after their five bull dogs severely mauled the couple's 72-year old watchman and nearly killed him, (the couple) asked the octors treating the victim to test him for HIV for fear that he might have infected their dogs.
Police initially identified van Schalhwal and his wife Helen as South Africans but the South African High Commission in Lilongwe has since disowned them. Police later found out that although van Schalhwal indicated he was South African, he was holding a Zimbabwean passport.
So even South Africa kicked them out, huh? Hope they are on the "no fly" list too. Unless maybe they are from a white-only dog fighting pit loving county in the US? I can think of more than one and you know who you are.... Top of my list is TN and GA - I'm sure others can chime in on that.
I have no tolerance for people like this and they should not be allowed the privilege to live on this earth. And their ugly dogs should get a dirt nap immediately.
My blog isn't about racism or white supremacists, but now know you know how I feel about those subjects.
They are all just insecure pussys who use their Pit Bulls as a dick extension.

I am the person in N Ft Myers who's neighbor's pittbulls mutilated my baby pot bellies! I live near the Nalle Rd - Nalle Grade intersection. At 5:30 a.m my husband woke me up because there were some dogs barking outside. (We do not have outside dogs). Armed with a flashlight and a gun loaded with bird shot, as we opened our garage door and proceeded towards our pen a pit bull jumped out of the pen and charged at us. My husband fired a shot at the dogs chest and he hauled ass back to my neighbors house. When we went to inspect our THREE MONTH OLD BABIES we were met with another snarling pit bull inside the pen hovering over my baby girl, Bonnie. We called the sheriff, who called animal control, 20 minutes later, the sheriff showed up, (who was extremly compassionate with our situation) and 20 minutes later animal control FINALLY arrived. She retieved the pig killer and loaded it up and reported that she was going to go next door and ask if this was indeed thier dog then report back to us. This is when I was able to check out Clyde, my baby boy, to see half of his head had been eaten and he was standing there bleeding out where his eye used to be. ( He passed shortly after) Well in all of 15 minutes we saw her drive by without stopping. My husband has contacted NBC news by now who showed up within 15 minutes of calling. When we FINALLY got a hold of someone with animal services we were told the neighbor denied that the pig killing dog was hers and claimed the other dogs were tethered ALL night. Now, I have called this lady several times to ask her to come get her dogs out of my yard before my husband shoots them. These dogs run at large all the time.
After harrasing animal services that the other pig killer is there at her home, they sent out another officer. (I think since my new friend Adam at NBC went down there too helped). She went over there, and the lady finally confessed it was probably her dog who escaped and did the damage. "Her DOG", call me crazy, but I know that these two dogs did not meet at random on the corner and said " Hey let's check this house at", the other dog belonged to her as well. All I can say is that thank God my daughters, who usually feed in the morning, were not the ones confronted this morning.
Long story short, she was fined, but the pig killer remains..........
PLEASE---- Has anyone in this area been confronted with these dogs? U can remain anoymous, just repost so I can presen the complaints to animal services.
Again, this could of been my daughter.
Thank you!!
RIP Bonnie and Clyde!

Columbus, OH - Pit Bull had history AND cocaine in it's system

Anyway - here's the dish on this attack:
In Feb. 2010, a Pit Bull belonging to Donald L. Moore, 34, aggressively approached Chuck Zilich while he was walking his Rottie. The pit bull proceeded to attack the rott. Zilich was eventually able to get a leash around the pits neck and choke him enough to get him to let go of the rott. He then tied the pit up and waited for Franklin Co Animal Control to arrive. AC arrived and Donald was charged with FOUR misdemeanors: Failure to confine a vicious dog, failure to maintain insurance on a vicious dog, failure to register the dog, and failure to have the dog vacc'd for rabies. AC gave the dog back to Donald after he registered it and vacc'd it. Does any of that surprise anyone? Bueller....Bueller.... Didn't think so.
Fast Forward to May 9, 2010:
The dog, named Caine, was tied up, but he broke out of his collar. He clamped his jaws onto Ryan's neck and began dragging him down a short hill in front of the duplex. "That dog was trying to kill him," Ryan's father said. Fuller yelled, jumped from the porch and beat on the dog. Ryan's grandmother was there, and so were Moore and his girlfriend. All were hitting or beating Caine or trying to pry the dog's jaws apart. But Caine wouldn't let go. (Bueller....Bueller....)
Tony Marcum, 20, who lives next door to the duplex, heard the screaming. He said he's been around pit bulls and knew that no amount of beating was going to get the dog to release Ryan.
"That dog was going to rip his neck out," Marcum said.
So he grabbed a kitchen knife. He and his brother ran outside. Antwan Marcum, 17, grabbed the dog, and Tony stabbed it.
Only then did the dog release Ryan. Thankfully, Ryan survived the attack after multiple surgeries. Bless his heart. I cannot imagine the emotional scars this boy will have.
Fast Forward to July 2010:
Turns out this mutt had COCAINE in his system. So not only do they own a loaded gun AKA a pit bull, they also gave it cocaine.
Moore's girlfriend, Stephanie Shahan, 23, also was indicted. Each is charged with one count of felonious assault, two counts of failure to confine a vicious dog, one count of assault and one count of insurance fraud. The couple, whose most recent address was on S. Powell Avenue, lied to their insurance company to obtain an insurance policy on the dog, according to the indictment. Moore also faces one count of witness intimidation, alleging that he threatened a witness in the case. (Bueller.....Bueller....)
Shortly after the May attack, Stephanie posted this comment on her MySpace page:
stephanie shahan MISSIN MY MAN! WHY DO PPL HAVE TO BE SO EFFIN STUPID!
12:48 AM May 26
Hey Steph - So are you calling Ryan Fuller stupid? How about your low-life, cocaine sniffing, lying, and generally fucked up boyfriend? Oh that's right - YOU'RE RIGHT UP THERE WITH HIM!! GLAD you are BOTH getting charged - but somehow I doubt it will help. Why - because you and Donald HAVE TO BE SO EFFIN STUPID!
Concord, CA - Updated video link
Video is here
The video shows the grandfather speaking about the mauling death of his grandson by his pit bulls.
Here are a couple of quotes from this video:
Pit Bulls should be banned.
I had a lack of understanding about these dogs...
I think he had it in the back of his mind since day-one that:
Yes, Pit Bulls have a bad reputation
Yes, small children shouldn't be around pit bulls ever
Yes, he took precautions to keep the children away from the dogs
Yes, his pit bulls killed his Chihuahua
Yes, he thought it was the "owner not the dog"
I am sure he is painfully regretting not listening to his conscience over the years with these pit bulls. Perhaps this terrible situation will make others take notice and legislate these dogs so that these types of attacks stop happening.

I'm not a morning person either.....
A little cuteness to start off the weekend.
Hope everyone gets to sleep in!
Update - Concord, CA
These things stood out to me:
“I thought pit bulls had a bad rap,” he said. “I’m one of those animal lovers who thinks dogs are dogs. Hayashi described himself as an animal lover who was surprised the animals turned so violent. Now Mr. Hayashi, you understand why we aren't surprised, and pit bulls really are different. I am sincerely sorry that your grandson lost his life.
About a year before the attack, the dogs attacked and killed his pet Chihuahua, "Ruby." Worth noting.
He said he had not set out to have five pit bulls. He got the first dog, "Sadie," from an animal shelter and later discovered that she was pregnant. Even the people at animal shelter didn't know Sadie was pregnant, Hayashi said. WTF? NO animal shelter I know of will adopt out a dog without it being spayed or neutered first. Hmmm..... would like the name of that shelter please!
And from the neighbors:
“Yes, they were aggressively barking,” said neighbor Linda Richardson. “We have twin granddaughters riding their bikes in the court out here, where you'd think you're gonna be safe.”
“I was washing the car and the dog came to me -- pit bull, brown color -- and I was scared,” said Elizabeth Mazan, another neighborhood resident. “And he was barking and I just told him ‘Go home! Go home!’”
Despite those incidents, county animal control said there were no reported incidents at this home or about the dogs. PEOPLE PLEASE if you do nothing else in your life ever, PLEASE report ANY dog incident to your local animal control.
76 year old man and his doxie attacked by loose Akita
native_at_heart writes:
Here's a brief description of an Akita's disposition. They are a beautiful dog, but they are very territorial. Most dogs are though.
'Powerful, reserved with strangers, and protective, the Akita Inu must be accustomed to people at an early age so that his guarding instincts remain controlled rather than indiscriminate.
Akitas can be so aggressive with other dogs of the same sex that two males or two females should never be left alone together. The problem is that this breed can be difficult to "read" -- often he does not "posture" (display obvious signs of aggression) -- instead, an Akita Inu may co-exist peacefully with another dog until suddenly, apparently out of the blue, a minor disagreement occurs, or perhaps the other dog pushes the Akita too far or approaches the Akita's food bowl or favorite toy, and then the Akita may attack with unsuspected ferocity. Akitas can be very possessive of their food -- keep children away from them during mealtime.
As you might guess, cats and other small animals are also at risk around an Akita. In general, it is simply safest to keep this breed as an only pet.'
I love dashunds. We had them as kids. A few were as gentle as could be and the last one we had took a piece of my sisters face off when she tried to take the garden hose away from him. Never really found out what happened to that dog that night when dad got home. All I know is we didn't have a dog the next morning....was told he went to live on a farm. I hold onto that thought to this day.
Hope Baxter makes a full recovery, poor little guy.
prelude9925 writes:
in response to trickshot:
All Akitas should be eliminated.
An obviously absurd thing to say. Best dog I ever owned was an Akita, more docile than my Golden Retriever. I do think its important to know bloodlines and family temperament when owning an Akita, there have been enough attacks that I'd question owning one again.
And here is a post from this article:
HomeAgain writes:
Its a shame now because Akitas are going to get more of a bad rap from this incident. Akitas are naturally bred guard dogs and should NEVER be allowed to just roam freely without a leash around individuals it does not know. An Akita needs to be "properly introduced" and socialized to unfamiliar people. I have a 14 yr old Akita who is the most sweetest docile baby. I raised him knowing everything about his breed and learning how to handle him so that he would be accepting and sweet - and he is wonderful. Don't have a dog, especially an Akita, if you don't want to spend time learning all u can about the breed so everyone will be safe! This owner was totally irresponsible, but now the Akita will suffer no doubt. Makes me ill.
Obviously there are people that know that Akita's are an extremely dangerous dog. And they notate what these dogs are bred to do, why they do it, and one even would think twice about owning one due to the number of attacks Akita's have been involved in. HomeAgain stresses for people to not have a dog (especially an Akita) if you don't want to spend time learning about the breed so everyone will be safe. Please tell me WHY the Pit Nutters are not preaching THAT to other pit bull owners? WHY aren't they taking the time to post on blogs about the dangers inherent in owning a pit (or any bully breed)?? Why are they continually blaming the victims or the owners? Why are they not out there writing to Senators and Congressmen to mandate special laws surrounding these dogs? Laws that may include liability insurance, and felony charges if your pit bull kills someone - among other things. I mean, what would they have to worry about?? Supposedly their pit bulls are so sweet they will lick you to death. Okay fine - so what's the problem with some extra protection? Or are you just afraid that your dog might ACTUALLY KILL OR MAIM SOMEONE? Pit Nutters - By taking a stand and educating people honestly about the breed, what they were bred to do, and the risks and responsibilities in owning one - your lives would be so much easier.

2 year old killed by family Pit Bulls
Not a lot of info on this, but is also not surprising. Would the odds of this happening been more in the favor of the child if the family pets were Beagles, Goldens, Labs, Shepherds? I'll take that bet.
The Concord Police just gave an update saying the owner of the dogs, who's also
the step-grandfather of the two-year-old victim, has been arrested....
As the result of this investigation, detectives arrested the owner of
the dogs. This person has been identified as Steven Hayashi age, 52. He has been
booked on the following charges:
Child endangerment and possessing a
mischievous animal that causes death or great bodily injury. He is being held on
$120,000 bail.
Hayashi has been identified as the step-grandfather of
the two year old victim.

ARRESTED!!

According to police, Sherry Wooten released the dogs from 236 N. Manassas Apartment knowing that they were vicious in nature. Wooten was charged with Reckless Homicide and four counts of Felony Reckless Endangerment in connection with the death of William Parker and the attacks on four other individuals.
Hey Sherry - Looks like you will do some time because your idiot "relative", Bernard chose to own these Pit Bulls. Wonder what the outcome would have been if Bernard had Beagles instead? I guess that goes without saying.....
But the question remains: Will Bernard be charged for the death of the gentleman and the attacks on the other people? Bernard owns the dogs. Bernard raised the dogs. Bernard was fully aware of the fact that they attacked someone just days before. So Sherry - did Bernard give you specific instructions on how to deal with these dogs, given the facts that surround their attack on Sunday?
Again to the Police - did you report this to the animal control authorities?
Bottom line is that the DEATH of this man SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED!!
Another thing I wonder about is that the only reason that SOMEONE was arrested is because the Firefighters were attacked as well. Would there have been a different outcome if that didn't happen? I seriously wonder.

Loretta Pitman wants her dog back

Ginger the Boxer

Loretta Pitman, 46, Libra, Bloomington, IN
So Loretta let me get this straight: Your 4 mutts viciously attacked a woman who was taking a walk down the street. You aren't denying that this event happened. But yet you are actually suing Morgan Co. Animal Control to get back one of your dogs. The basis of your lawsuit is: They got the breed of the dog wrong. OMG, really? Is that all you can come up with??? Here's a little piece of information you may find helpful: Boxer's are Bully Breeds and ARE GENETICALLY PREDISPOSED TO THIS BEHAVIOR. And not to mention the fact that you shouldn't be allowed to own dogs after this incident!
On another note: Of the 4 dogs involved, 1 was euthanized, and 2 were adopted out. Yep that's right - 2 of these dogs that attacked this woman were adopted out to new homes. Only Ginger (the alleged Boxer) remains. Is Ginger a Boxer? Not even remotely likely (Boxer breeders??), but regardless, a bully breed. So Loretta - doesn't matter WHAT breed the authorities are labeling your dog. You are still a low-life who obviously cares more about your mutt than you do a person.
1 killed, 5 others injured in Pit Bull attack

Bernard Humphrey - this is your life:
DOB: 11/19/1978
SEX: M
WEIGHT: 160
Height: 5-7
Eye Color: Brown
Hair Color: Black
HOME ADDRESS:619 Exchange Ave., Memphis, TN 38105
Drivers License # 86090422 (TN)
OFFENSE: STATUTORY RAPE (03/13/1998)
And now your mutts have killed a human being and injured 5 others. So along with Statutory Rape, you have now killed someone.
What I want to know is WHY THE FUCK were these dogs not taken away from this deadbeat on SUNDAY?? Police were called to Bernard's house this past Sunday because his pit bulls were terrorizing a man - he stood on top of his car for 30 minutes before police arrived. The cops arrested idiot Bernard due to not registering as a sex offender, but totally FAILED to deal with the DOGS. WTF??
IF the police would have dealt with the dog situation on Sunday, THIS MAN WOULDN'T BE DEAD. So Memphis PD - DID you report these obviously dangerous dogs to the Animal Control Authorities?? Speak up - I am listening!!
And again - who the FUCK was the person who was "watching" the dogs??? You are an accessory murder plain and simple.
there are multiple links to this story, but one is clickable in the title above.
Thoughts and well wishes to all who were affected by these dogs.

Only Bully Breeds do this kind of damage!
Mason was air-cared in critical condition to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. Doctors used more than 650 staples to put the blond-haired little boy back together. He was hospitalized for three weeks and has had five surgeries - one to reattach his ear - skin grafts and other procedures. Another surgery is scheduled in December. The dogs had ripped Mason's left leg to the bone, from his knee to his thigh. "We were lucky that the hamstring was still attached," his mother said. "If it wasn't for that, he would have lost his leg."
Now here's what Harold Dates, president and CEO of SPCA of Cincinnati, has to say about the attack:
"Dog bites are provoked by something," "Dogs don't bite unless they perceive a reason that they should do that. It could be anything from a squeal, a cry, a movement, something that startles a dog or that he perceives as unusual," Dates said. He described the American Bulldog as docile dog, but sometimes, dog to dog, they're aggressive (Maybe you need to look up this dog's origins Mr. Dates). What happened to Mason is speculation, Dates said, but perhaps he took the ball away from one of the dogs. He might have squealed in fun, but the dogs perceived it as a threat. If the dogs were competing for attention (what, I thought they would lick him to death?), competing for one ball, they may have been arguing over the toy. In the dogs' system of play, jumping on each other and wrestling each other, they might have included the child, but in an overly aggressive manner, Dates said.
Mr. Dates - are you SERIOUS with your statement about this attack? I hope you realize that you've just succeeded in down-playing the severity of this attack and you've defended the DOGS and blamed the VICTIM. And let me back this up by saying that this was NOT a typical "dog bite" where the dog did not want the tennis ball taken from him. This was also NOT a result of the "dogs' system of play" - please tell me who's dogs' rip out their owners friends face and leg while they are playing fetch with them and wrestling around??? ONLY BULLY BREEDS DO THIS KIND OF DAMAGE ON A REGULAR BASIS MR. DATES. And I know you won't ever admit it because then 80% of your funding (maybe more) would go up in smoke - can't have that happen now can we?
Mason uses a walker today and needs a wheelchair if he has to go long distances. They won't know if he'll walk on his own again until after the December surgery. The muscle that's supposed to be growing back and attaching in his left leg is growing back as bone, his mother explained. The bone has to be removed. Mason was in a medically induced coma during his first week in the hospital. He doesn't remember what happened while he was in the intensive care unit.
"He remembers the attack, though," McNary said. "But he doesn't know why they did it."
Mason - best wishes on your recovery!!!

Brazil soccer player Bruno Fernandes de Souza 'fed lover to dogs'
Anyone care to comment on what should be done with the Rottweiler that was fed a human being? Words escape me.
Miami-Dade Pit Bull Cover Up
So Animal Control shows up to investigate, and they are shown a bunch of puppies by the dog owners, but no white pit bull. Which doesn't surprise me at all. What frosts my ass is that if a PERSON did this to a 75 year old woman - they would have beat the door down and arrested the attacker. WHY on earth did animal control just take these idiot owner's word on the dogs they produced??? And then animal control just leaves?? Nice work boys and girls.
Anyway, NBCMiami decides to shoot some video outside the dog owner's house and GUESS WHAT THEY SAW? I'll give you two guesses and the first two don't count. That's right ladies and gentleman - a WHITE PIT BULL pokes it's head out of their doorway a couple of times in the video. Mr. Hamilton immediately identified the dog as the vicious attacker when shown the video. (video is included in the article - click the title at the top of this post to see it). It's VERY obvious from the video that there IS a white pit bull at the residence. No word on what the next steps by law enforcement and animal control are going to be of course.
Funnier yet: This article HERE does not have as much information, but does state that a woman was attacked by a pit bull. Here is a comment from the blog on this article for your viewing pleasure:
AP9 wrote on 07/15/2010 12:27:52 PM:
I guess the original headline was not good enough so the words " PIT BULL" where added. It is sad that every dog bite that takes place it is suspected that a "PIT BULL" is responsible. I have a question for the writer of this article, What is a PIT BULL? Do you know? If you do a little research you would learn that there is no specific breed of dog known as a "PIT BULL", but I guess it helps with the dramatic image of your story. WORTHLESS NEWS!!!
Hey AP9 - Guess what? It REALLY was a pit bull (see video in title link if you don't believe me). And whatever with your rant about specific "breeds" you know EXACTLY what the fuck everyone is talking about when they say PIT BULL. If you don't, you've obviously been living under a rock or done a few too many drugs. So get over yourself.

How did the Pit Nutters get involved in THIS attack??

Lincoln Park, MI. A 5 year old boy was fatally attacked by the 90 pound wolf-hybrid owned by his mother's boyfriend. The authorities have not released the name of the dog-owner-boyfriend, but seemed quick to say that he's had MULTIPLE problems with the law. Not surprising at ALL is it?
Now here's the part I don't get: This incident has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH A PIT BULL.... but here are some comments from PIT NUTTERS (yes, you all DID THIS TO YOURSELVES):
This is a tragic story. I can't imagine a mother's grief in the wake of
this, or the child's fear and pain during the actual attack. (Not to nitpick, but isn't it irresponsible to label the 90lb dog a wolf-hybrid with nothing but the neighbors' suspicion for proof? I know we, as pit owners, get all up in arms when the pit-bull label is cavalierly affixed to any aggressive or dangerous dog.)

The little dog doesn't look much like a "Lab mix" either -- smallish prick-eared black dog with a medium-length coat. It's interesting that the comments on the news sites (I know, it's insane to read them, makes you stupider just to do it) are all calling for the heads of the mother and boyfriend, many suspecting that they killed the child and used the dogs to cover it up. (They could be right.) I never see that if it is a "pit bull" implicated. Just the same idiots screaming to ban the breed.

SERIOUSLY? REALLY?? Are you people that fucking paranoid that you have to post on a dog attack fatality that wasn't a pit bull's doing and STILL DEFEND YOUR DOG?? C'MON REALLY? I work every day with people like this (except it isn't dog or animal related) REALITY CHECK - it is what it is: A FATAL DOG ATTACK! Or maybe there are just THAT many pit bull attacks that are documented that proves you all wrong?
Paranoia OR Truth?

Apparently, Cassandra decided to get back at her landlord when she was evicted, and called in an innocent water leak in her back yard. Well what do you think was waiting for Teresa Shely when she went to check out the leak?? Yep - she was attacked by this loser's pit bull. Tell me - who else calls for repair help, water leak, etc., and doesn't contain their dog knowing that someone is coming to fix it? Ms. Shely will undoubtedly be a little more aware of who she rents to in the future I'm sure.
"Unless we can prove that she did this on purpose, did the setting up thing, it's gonna be through Animal Control where they're charging her with harboring a vicious animal," says Captain James Monroe with Danville Police. The pit bull is quarantined at the Danville Animal Shelter. Police say it's unlikely Spiker will get the dog back.Hmmm... usually they don't KEEP a dog and charge the owner unless SOMETHING actually happened!!!!
All of the Pit Bull owners out there must be SO proud that their breed is being represented by such an upstanding citizen (her mother must be proud too). So Pit Bill Lovers - what laws, legislation, etc. are YOU going to help change so that fuck-ups like her don't make breed-bans the norm Nationwide? Please tell me. I am listening.

Sharon Sayler, Richmond CA - ANIMAL ABUSER AND LOSER!!
RICHMOND — A Richmond landlord charged with beating a tenant's miniature
pinscher and then keeping the injured dog in a tightly sealed garbage bag overnight has been ordered to trial on two counts of felony animal abuse.
Contra Costa Superior Court Judge Barbara Hinton also ordered Sharon Sayler, 65, to have no unsupervised contact with animals after learning during a preliminary hearing Monday that Sayler has been volunteering at a humane society charity store in Siskiyou County, and recently worked at an animal shelter there.
Sayler was previously ordered to stay away from the Richmond four-plex she owns and where she had been living next door to Saul Hernandez and Felicia Minor, working parents who own the pinscher, Taz.
Six months after the attack, Taz is blind, uncoordinated from brain damage and extremely skittish, the couple testified at the preliminary hearing. "She told me for no particular reason she had a serious dislike for (Taz)," Sgt. Lori Curran testified.
Sayler said in her police interview that she had fantasies about killing dogs in the past, and had on several occasions chased Taz in an attempt to harm him, according to Curran. When she caught Taz on Jan. 28, Sayler said she held the 9-pound dog down with one hand, and used a thick tree branch to "bash" him more than 10 times in the head with the other. "She said it was an error in judgment and she would be willing to compensate the owners for any costs," Curran said.
Hernandez tearfully testified how, when he found Taz missing afterreturning home from celebrating his daughter's first birthday, he questioned Sayler. She admitted she had "disposed of" the dog, but refused to give details.
The next day, Hernandez followed Sayler to Wildcat Canyon Regional Park.
He said she had just put on rubber gloves and retrieved a garbage bag from her
trunk when he confronted her, causing her to flee and lead him on a
45-minute car chase. He said Sayler drove onto a sidewalk, knocking
down garbage cans, and ran several red lights before stopping at a San Pablo
hospital and running inside.
It was in the hospital parking lot that police forced open the trunk and pulled out the plastic bag filled with blood, sweat and the badly injured pup, gasping for air.
Sayler's attorney argued Monday that the charges should be reduced to misdemeanors because Sayler has no previous criminal record and has long been a community philanthropist. The judge cited Sayler's apparent lack of remorse as a factor for keeping the charges as felonies.
Sharon Saylor - YOU are a fucked up person and should NOT be allowed to live amongst the general population! And your attorney is a PUSSY!!

Passers-by tried to thwart pit bull attack in New Bedford:
Neighbors said the dogs were jumping at the man and nipping at his two shoulder bags Friday between 6:30 and 7 p.m. in the area of County and Robeson streets as he struggled to get away, and traffic was backed up in both directions as motorists were trying to distract the dogs by honking their horns. "He was kind of waving his arms because the dogs were kind of jumping up at him," Aaron Nelson, who lives in the area, said Sunday night. "He was standing in the middle of County Street and the dogs were nipping at him."
Okay - so traffic was disrupted because some dogs were "NIPPING" at a man's shoulder bags and jumping on him.
He said he and his wife, Anca Nelson, were yelling at the dogs to get them to stop. His wife grabbed a broken picture frame and a neighbor grabbed a baseball bat and tried to help. Nelson said he and several of his neighbors called 911. (Why, because they were nipping him?) John Arruda, another neighbor, said he saw the victim running to elude the dogs as they bit at him and then saw him fall on the sidewalk on County Street. He said he comforted the victim as he lay on the ground. He said the man suffered about 10 puncture wounds from bites as well as scratches to both arms during the attack, but the most serious injury was to his upper lip. Maciel said the facial injury was caused by one of the dog's paws, and that there are two more marks on the man's face from the dog's nails. (He said it - not me)
Although details of the attack remain under investigation, Maciel said that at some point the victim tried to hide in the bushes to avoid the dogs, and that he tried to cover his face during the attack, but one of the dogs jumped and caused the injury to the man's lip. (Those must have been some pretty lethal claws on that dog's paw)
Maciel said he has quarantined two of the dogs, which belong to Jasmine Lopes, who lives with her boyfriend, Justin Andrade, at 10 Longdale Road, Mansfield. Andrade owns the third dog, according to Maciel, who said neither the dog nor the owner have been located. Andrade had gone to a nearby market and left their three dogs in the Hazard Street house, Lopes' mother's residence. The dogs somehow (SOMEHOW??) got loose and Lopes and Andrade learned of the attack and "ran home," he said. The three dogs are 8 to 9 months old, and Maciel believes they came from the same litter. Lopes has been cited for failure to license a dog and failure to restrain a dog, the dog officer said. (That's IT?) He said Andrade will be cited with failure to license a dog and failure to restrain a dog and perhaps interfering with an animal inspection. (Gee - ya think?) He said the three dogs aren't licensed in Mansfield. (Again, typical pit bull owner)
There was no answer at the Harzard Street residence Sunday night. (Again, typical pit bull owner)

Three pit bulls attacked a college student walking along a street in New Bedford on Friday night.
“We saw this guy screaming. Three dogs were attacking him. I tried to make a move, but the dog was chasing me, I came back,” said Jose Goncalves, a witness.
Neighbors said the three dogs got out of their home about a block away from the scene of the attack, and for a while, were just running up and down the streets.
"I seen the dog, running up the street, going crazy," said Gina Deandrade, a neighbor.
The 22-year-old student, who attends the University of Massachusetts in Dartmouth, was walking on Robeson Street when the three dogs approached him.
Witnesses said the dogs viciously jumped on the student, biting him all over his body. The victim tried to hide behind some bushes to get away, but the dogs were relentless.
Several people tried to jump in and help, with one of them grabbing a baseball bat. Eventually, nearby drivers started honking their horns, and the startled dogs ran off.
“It was biting right here, under his lip, on his arm, on his leg, and then he fell down over there,” said Goncalves.
The victim was rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital. The injuries he sustained were so bad, he will likely need reconstructive surgery on his face.
"They just destroyed his face and the legs," said Deandrade.
At least two of the dogs were taken away by Animal Control. The location of the third pit bull is not known.
It's unclear if the dogs' owners will be charged in connection with the attacks. (Seriously??)
Best wishes on your recovery!

Houston, TX - pit bulls attack neighbor
Officers arrived and shot the three pitbulls. Two died and one ran off. The dead dogs were a three-year-old female and a two-year-old male. The surviving dog, an eight-month-old male, had to be tranquilized before being taken to a vet. (why did they bother?)
The extent of the man's injuries are unknown. He went to Southeast Memorial Hospital for treatment. (hopefully more to come.....)
JONESBORO, GA - 80 year old woman mauled by neighbor's pit bulls
Animal control officers captured the dogs. A third pit bull remained in Robinson’s back yard Friday. Neighbors said 11 puppies also remain on the property. (WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU LET THIS ASSHOLE KEEP ANY ANIMALS???)
The two pit bulls that attacked Crews are in quarantine, police said. An animal control board will decide whether they will be put down. (SERIOUSLY? REALLY? THEY ACTUALLY NEED TO "DECIDE" THAT? C'MON PEOPLE!! PUT THOSE MUTTS DOWN - WHAT IF THIS WAS YOUR GRANDMOTHER?? And last time I checked, dogs don't have rights, but Grandmothers DO!)
Neighbors said Crews has been released from the hospital and is recovering with family members. (Best wishes on your recovery!)
Howell, MI - Pit bull in alleged attack source of other complaints
The dog's owner, whom officials did not identify, (and WHY, officials, did you not identify this IDIOT??) turned the dog into the Animal Control office Wednesday, director Anne Burns confirmed. Burns declined to discuss the case (COWARD), citing the ongoing investigation (COP-OUT to the inth degree). However, she did say her office received fewer than 10 complaints against the dog, which has not shown aggressive tendencies toward Animal Control personnel.(Oh so let's DOWN-PLAY this whole situation - bet that REALLY gives the VICTIMS some reassurance on who's side YOU'RE on, doesn't it?? Why does DEFENDING THE DOG make you fell better? How about the HUMAN BEINGS??)
Marion Township mother Roxanne Catlin-Jenks, 49, said she and her daughter, Amanda Jenks, 20, were jogging at around 8 p.m. July 1 when two dogs attacked them, inflicting puncture wounds to the women's thighs and lower legs.
Catlin-Jenks spent that evening at Saint Joseph Mercy Livingston Hospital in Howell with her daughter, who received eight stitches from one puncture wound.
Burns said only one dog was turned into her office. (SO WHERE IS THE OTHER DOG?)
Catlin-Jenks said she was "frustrated" by the lack of action taken regarding the incident. ("Lack of action" is an UNDERSTATEMENT!! Can you say "Lawsuit?")
She said that during the attack, the dogs' owner was trying to take command of the dogs verbally, but did not physically intervene (of course not - she didn't want to get BIT or ATTACKED herself - what a COWARD). The dogs were not on leashes.
Catlin-Jenks said the dogs eventually stopped biting the women and retreated with the homeowner, who she said offered "no support." (AGAIN - COWARD) She also expressed concern about the lack of quick action by the animal control personnel.
Burns said officials did try to reach the dog's owner on the weekend, but were unsuccessful. (UMM - you "tried to reach them"??? GO GET THOSE FUCKING DOGS - THEY ARE DANGEROUS YOU INCOMPETENT IDIOTS) She said the owner voluntarily brought in her dog Wednesday. (INQUIRING MINDS WANT TO KNOW WHERE THE OTHER DOG IS???)
Burns said her office is investigating and a complaint will be sent to the prosecutor, who determines what, if any, charges will be filed. Charges could include allowing an animal to run at-large. (HOW ABOUT "ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON?)State law requires pet owners to keep pets on a leash if animals are off the owner's property. Not having them on a leash is a misdemeanor offense. (Only a Misdemeanor?? That's too bad - laws NEED to change!!)
Canyon Lake, CA - BEWARE!!
Here’s a word of warning to walkers. I am a 72-year-old 5 foot 2 woman. On my July 3rd morning walk down Gray Fox from Canyon Lake Drive, I was attacked by a white and black male pit bull. I thought the woman coming toward me with the dog on a loose leash was crossing the street; she wasn’t. I was near the right curb. Surely she would grip “up” on the leash; she didn’t. They passed. The dog attacked from the rear. She struggled to hold him. I had a water bottle slung on my left hip. It hung on a strap around my neck. The dog’s teeth ripped the sling, tore the mesh bottom and broke free. I was visibly shaken, but uninjured. My husband commented that with a good grip, the dog could have pulled me over; I was lucky.
On my way home, I warned a lady in her front yard with a small dog about the incident. She said she wondered if that was the same white and black dog she had seen a man training to attack at the park one day. Be alert for this dog. I encountered it twice between Canyon Lake Drive and Pheasant on Gray Fox. Canyon Lake walkers and their “socialized” dogs should have the right to walk the streets free from concerns about themselves and the community at large. How should we deal with this problem?
Jan Tapp
Well Mrs. Tapp -You are LUCKY that you escaped a pit bull attack without major injury!! I strongly suggest you contact the authorities in your area and REPORT THIS - far too many incidents like this go unreported - thereby destroying ANY history attributed to this particular dog and owner. You do realize that 2 months from now when her mutt kills or injures someone, she will DENY that any of this with you EVER took place and tell everyone how her mutt has "no history of aggression" - Which it won't if you don't report it. And have the lady in her front yard that you talked to file a report also!
Stay safe!
Pit Bulls Loose: What Would You Do?
Following the late afternoon attack Shilling, pursued the pair of pits through Richmond's Tara Colony neighborhood, noting quickly neither of the dogs wore tags as they charged into yard after yard, eventually killing a second pet cat. (Good for you Mr. Shilling!! You did the right thing! )
Fearing for the community's toddlers and pre-teens, Shilling called 911 and made contact with the Ft. Bend County Sheriff's Office.
"I said what if they attack a child? He says 'call us.' I said the child will be dead by the time you get here and he says, 'I'm just telling what we can do.' (typical) I said don't worry about it. I'll take care of it. I'll shoot the dogs," says John.
Shilling believes lethal force was more than justified. He'd been bitten by a pit bull back in the 1980's and lost a Himalayan cat eight years ago in an attack chillingly similar to the mauling that took Princess.
"He had to call 911 three times to tell them, 'they are running loose, they are running loose! They killed two cats! Who's next, a child?', " said Jenie, also a teacher. (He had to call 3 times??)
Shilling's threat of armed intervention drew a squad car and eventually animal control officers. (Funny how it took that to get them out there - I can't imagine their liability if those mutts did injure or kill a person) The pits were captured and will be euthanized Monday if unclaimed.
Context for this confrontation can be had with a quick walk through the Ft. Bend Animal Control kennel. There you will find pit after pit after pit, more than two dozen in all, deserted, unclaimed and before their capture, a real and present danger to the public. (so why are 24 pit bulls being fed and taken care of on tax payer dollars? Cause nobody gives a shit UNTIL their pet, livestock, family member is mauled or killed by one)
Ft. Ben County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Craig Brady believes this incident was complicated by a dispatching error. (That's BULLSHIT and he knows it!! Man up!!)
Brady says pit bulls loose in an area populated with small children should and will be treated with urgency, despite a growing shortage of patrol resources.(of course, NOW that the media is involved you've decided to grow a set)

Police: Owner charged after pit bull chases teens & Police
The dog owner, Sean Galeaz, 22, of 12 Virginia Court, was not arrested (well that's too bad), but was issued five citations for not properly caring for a menacing dog and one citation for creating a nuisance, police said. Fines from the citations total $500. (umm, that's not enough)
This is not the first time police have responded to Galeaz' home for dog complaints. (Not the FIRST TIME?)
"We've been there numerous times before," Lt. Troy Cline said. (NUMEROUS TIMES?? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? WTF HAS MANCHESTER ANIMAL CONTROL BEEN DOING?)
Police responded to Virginia Court about 12:40 p.m. Thursday after Galeaz' dog, identified by police as a pit bull, chased after two 13-year-old boys riding their bicycles, according to police. When an officer responded, the dog allegedly chased after him as well, police said. The Manchester Animal Control Officer was called in to assist and took custody of the dog. According to Cline, Galeaz' mother, with whom he lives, was making arrangements Tuesday to regain custody of the animal. (SO WHERE ARE THE DOGS? WHAT IS THE OUTCOME? THESE NEWS REPORTERS NEED TO GET A REAL JOB)

Missing Pit Bull Has Neighborhood On Edge
VIDEO IS HERE
Douglas County Animal Control is looking for a missing pit bull that attacked a woman and sent her to the hospital.
Frankie Forsh said she nearly died Monday after getting attacked by a pack of pit bull dogs. “It’s like your life is flashing before you and you’ll never see your family again,” said Forsh. The three dogs ripped apart her arms, legs, and face. “The plastic surgeon stitched the left side of my face,” Forsh said. “The right side I will probably have to have skin grafts.” (how horrible)
According to Forsh, Douglas County Animal Control told her they had all three dogs.
A spokesperson with animal control told CBS Atlanta one of the dogs is still on the loose after somehow getting away from the dog catcher. (SOMEHOW?)
Frosh said the attack happened during a neighborhood walk.
“They kept charging at me, they didn’t back up so I started screaming and started fighting them off,” said Frosh. Edd Stephens heard the screams and said he grabbed a big stick and brick. “The brown one had the lady by the face, so I threw a brick at him and it hit him in the face,” he said.
Animal Control said the missing dog may return to the area where it lives, and area residents are now scared.
“I’m definitely concerned about that. My kids will be in the house,” said Kerri Roberts.
“No one should be afraid to walk in their neighborhood,” Forsh said. (You are so right about that!)

Gameness is a very extreme trait... A trait that is the primary characteristic in bully breed dogs, especially that of the American Pit Bull Terrier; Game-bred dogs do not submit. These dogs are dominant ........... Game-bred dogs never give up.
Animal shelter tackles new initiative to improve successful pit bull adoption rate
It has been a familiar, and unwanted, pattern: Pit bull arrives at animal shelter, pit bull gets adopted, pit bull ends up back at the shelter. (no way, really? Seriously this is a problem)
The Hawk Creek Animal Shelter is banking ("BANKING = $$$$) on a new approach to help reduce this revolving-door cycle. (I am glad to hear that they ADMIT to the "Revolving Door"- most people don't believe this). With more intensive training before pit bulls are adopted, and more support and education for prospective owners, it’s hoped the rate of long-term successful adoptions for these dogs will go up, said Glenda Anderson, a board member of the Humane Society of Kandiyohi County. (I'd like to know what your liability is Ms. Anderson, if an "adoption" is not "successful".)
“We are seeing too many recycled pits,” (SHE said it - not me) she said. “We had to revise our way of thinking. It’s something that has been needed for a long time.” (but is this the RIGHT THINKING??)
Of the 1,000 or so animals who come through the shelter’s doors each year, dogs classified as pit bulls — a category that includes Staffordshire and bull terriers — are among the harder ones to place. (Wonder why?)
The shelter houses at least three pit bulls, and sometimes six or seven, at any given time, Anderson said. “They have been confiscated. They have been found roaming the streets,” she said. Many arrive at the shelter with little or no training or socialization. (how do they know that?) Adopters who bring them home often are unprepared for the reality of living with this exceptionally strong and tenacious breed, Anderson said. (so why the f*** did you adopt them out to these people??? IRRESPONSIBLE RESCUE ALERT!!) As a result, the dogs frequently end up back at the shelter. (WASH, RINSE AND REPEAT)
Coupled with this (THEIR IRRESPONSIBILITY) is the negative image of the pit bull, Anderson said. “This is a breed that has been so misused, so abused and so misunderstood that it is pitiful… They are a magnificent animal but it is through lack of knowledge and lack of care that they get that pit bull stigma. We have been conditioned to look at all pit bulls as a naughty breed and that is an injustice.”(SO WHY ARE THEY BEING "RECYCLED" SO OFTEN? WHY THE STIGMA? ARE YOU SAYING THAT YOUR DEPARTMENT'S LACK OF "TRAINING" IS THE WHOLE REASON?)
Seeing that Hawk Creek Animal Shelter needed to do more for pit bulls, Anderson contacted Dr. Melissa and Winston Shelton, who run a veterinary clinic and a private pit bull rescue in Howard Lake. Last week the Sheltons came to Willmar for an intensive four-hour boot camp to give shelter staff and a small group of local pit bull owners some basic training in how to effectively handle the breed. One of the keys, and one of the areas in which new owners often fail, is understanding the psychology of the pit bull, Anderson said. “They have the attitude that everything belongs to me and I’ll share it with you if I feel like it,” (SOUND FAMILIAR?) she said. “You have to take a very no-nonsense approach with this breed. The goal is to reinforce that the owner-handler is in charge. This is what we have to teach people."
Last week’s training illustrated how. As the dogs and their handlers arrived, they were barking and lunging and pulling on their leashes, Anderson said. Twenty minutes into the session, “every one of those dogs was sitting at the ‘sit-stay’ and they were quiet. It got to the point that we could walk several of these dogs side by side nicely,” she said. (Several "side by side"? Wow, you must be SO proud)
The Hawk Creek Animal Shelter is now putting together a new strategy for dealing with pit bulls. (a "new strategy??) At the top of the list is more training while the dog is in the shelter. “These dogs need to learn some manners and be able to be good citizens in the community,” said Bobbie Bauman, animal care director. (and somehow you believe that, and think it's going to carry over into new ownership? I AM GOING TO START TRACKING YOUR NUMBERS ON THIS.)
Besides helping identify sooner which dogs are the best candidates for adoption, the training also should help make more of the shelter’s pit bulls attractive to prospective owners, she said. (AND IT'S ALL ABOUT MAKING THE DOGS "ATTRACTIVE TO NEW OWNERS, ISN'T IT? - HEY, SHE SAID IT - NOT ME)
Another piece of the strategy: training a core group of shelter volunteers to work with pit bulls. If enough funds can be raised, the Humane Society and shelter officials hope to bring the Sheltons back for another session with the volunteers, Bauman said.
The adoption application process also will be tightened for people who want to adopt a pit bull, including mandatory training for prospective new owners before the adoption is finalized. (AGAIN, I'LL BE LOOKING INTO THESE RESULTS)
“It might sound harsh but you have to take that kind of attitude because, No. 1, we want it to be a forever home, No. 2, we don’t want anybody getting hurt, and No. 3, we don’t want to euthanize,” Anderson said. “We just have to make sure that it’s going to be a good fit. This is where our focus and our energy are now going to go.”
If the Hawk Creek Animal Shelter can develop a successful program to improve successful adoptions of pit bulls, “we could be a role model for other shelters,” she said. “We are looking forward to this being a great opportunity for us to really show the public what this shelter could be capable of.” (the numbers will speak for themselves)

Pit bull attacks three
The dog is being held at Craven County Animal Control’s shelter in James City. It is a 10-day quarantine to rule out rabies, said Trinity Smith of Pamlico County animal control. Meanwhile, officials are investigating to determine if the dog is vicious, or if the attack was an isolated incident. (OMG - an "isolated incident"?? Is there such a thing with a dog attack?? Inquiring minds want to know...)
The dog’s owner, Anthony Krelie, 37, said he was arrested Monday and charged with assault with a deadly weapon. He spent Monday night in jail before posting a $3,000 bond. (Best thing I've read all day. AWESOME!! MORE STATES SHOULD HAVE LAWS LIKE THIS!! - When you own a dog capable of this, and the dog attacks someone, you SHOULD be charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon, because THAT'S WHAT IT IS)
The dog, named Shy (obviously she's not) , is a 6-year-old pit-bull mix that Krelie has owned since she was a puppy. He said he keeps her inside except to relieve herself. The dog was inside the house Saturday but someone opened a door and she got out and went on the attack. (every one's dog does this, right? OMG)
Oh but it gets even better......
The dog went right for Armstrong’s throat and face, but she fended off the dog with her right hand. The dog then went after another woman who protected herself with a folding chair, then another woman who was sitting in the cab of a truck. That woman escaped out the truck’s other side, but the dog stayed in the cab until Krelie got her and took her back inside the house.
“He kept saying the dog wouldn’t bite, the dog wouldn’t bite,” Yliniemi said, referring to Krelie. “He took the dog inside and never came back out.” (What a Hero)
Armstrong was the only one injured. Her wrist and hand required six stitches to repair internal injuries and nine stitches to close the wound, Yliniemi said. The dog’s teeth also scratched a bone in her arm. (Best wishes on your recovery)
Krelie said Shy (the name is still cracking me up) was inside the house but his ex-girlfriend let her out while she was moving her things. He said someone outside was “cutting up and acting like a fool,” which got the dog excited and led to the attack. (Excuses, excuses....)
And here comes the best part....
Wait for it....
He said Shy jumped into the cab of the pickup because she thought she was going for a ride. (Words escape me)
